The website I chose belongs to Ms. Usina, a middle school physical education teacher. When you first visit the website, you are greeted with the teacher bitmoji and a message for the students about remaining healthy. On the left side of the website, she lists a collection of links to relevant information for students and parents such as “Meet the Teacher”, “Class Calendar”, and “Announcements”. One of my favorite features of the website is the calendar. The calendar is very interactive and contains information about upcoming events. Having a calendar is a great addition to the website because it can provide parents with information about upcoming events.
The way I envision myself using technology efficiently for my
class is by having my own teacher website. My website would be designed for my
students and parents to have an insight about myself and the course. I would
also include a calendar that would include school events and announcements
about class rules. For my class, I would use Kahoot and design quizzes for my
students as a review session for the class material. In my class, I would implement the technology by using several teaching tools such as videos, online class activities, and
various visual aids for my lesson. If applicable I would also utilize Canvas to organize all of my lessons and also use features like announcements,
calendar, inbox, and discussions. Even though this platform is mostly used by
college students I think that it offers many tools that are accessible and
interactive for high schoolers and middle schoolers.
My experience with PB works was not a good one. The website
was generally confusing and not user-friendly for me. My group and I struggled
to utilize the features and it took us a lot of time to figure out this
website. Unfortunately, I could not access this website as the group link would
not share in my email. I did my work on Google Docs and my group leader shared
my work on the website. I think as a teacher I would not use this website for
my students as it seems to lack creativity and it is kind of difficult to use. Moreover,
I believe there are better websites that are more accessible for students and teachers
to use in a classroom.
