Hello everyone! My name is Amber Picari and I am a senior at Florida State University majoring in psychology with a minor in education. I was born in Toronto, Canada but I lived most of my childhood in my parent's birth country, Albania. I have been living in Tallahassee, Florida for over 8 years now. I was 13 years old when I moved to the US with my parents. I remember how much of an adjustment it was for me to adapt to a new country and learn English. Some of my favorite hobbies include cooking, working out, playing soccer, and painting.
In Albania, there is not much use of technology in school. Most teachers preferred the traditional method of teaching without the use of technology. However, when I attended high school in the US I familiarized myself with programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Prezi. Overall, I would say that I have a decent foundation of technological skills, however, I am always looking to learn new skills.
The resources I mostly use for my studies are Quizlet or having study sessions with my friends. Sometimes I use resources from the library or watch YouTube lessons when I find them more helpful. Moreover, I also use the resources in Canvas for my classes and I keep track of my assignments by using Notion. Last year during the Covid lockdown all my classes were online and it was a big adjustment. However, with the use of Zoom and recorded lectures, I was able to work efficiently with my classes.
